

OComp invites you to a practical course on handling lithium-ion battery fires. The course, which will take place on October 28 at our new facilities in Gravdal, just outside Bergen, provides participants with unique insights into risks and preparedness measures through realistic demonstrations, including thermal runaway. The course complies with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s Circular 7-23 and is suitable for anyone working with safety on ships.

This course complies with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s Circular 7-23 – Guidelines on requirements for training in chemical energy storage on board Norwegian ships. Since 2020, OComp has trained nearly 3,000 seafarers from over 10 countries, including crews on ferries, high-speed boats, and supply vessels, on how to handle a lithium-ion battery fire on a ship. Participants have come from some of Norway’s largest shipping companies as well as some of the world’s largest international shipping companies, in addition to fire departments along the entire Norwegian coast.
Practical Information
The course lasts one day and combines theory with practical exercises. After completing the course, participants will receive a certificate documenting training in accordance with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s requirements. Before the course, participants will have access to e-learning that provides a basic introduction to the subject. Participants retain access to the e-learning after the course is completed.
